Flashing red lights typically indicate low sunlight or a low battery. This is normal and doesn’t necessarily mean your Betta is malfunctioning. Here are a few things to check:
Charge the Unit Outside the Pool: Place Betta in direct sunlight outside the pool for a full day, with the power switch left ON. Once the battery receives enough energy, the lights should switch from red to green.
Check the Propellers: When the unit is turned off, both propellers should spin freely with your finger. If they feel stuck, check for debris, hair, or leaves wrapped around the propeller shaft and clear anything you find.
Account for Seasonal Sunlight: During fall and winter, weaker sunlight and shorter days affect charging efficiency. You can conserve power by taking the unit out of the pool at night. About 3 hours of daily operation is sufficient for most average-sized pools.
